The highest grade of Indian cardamom known as Extra Bold is 8 mm (8 mm pod diameter). Indian Cardamom has an astonishing 25 grades like Alleppey Green Extra Bold (AGEB), Bold, Superior and Light, all mainly based on size and weight. After being graded, every batch of cardamom is delivered to an auction house. Although cardamom is never tasted, its quality is assessed based on its size, weight, and aesthetic flaws.
